Meet Lt Gen Okidi, the new Commander of the UPDF Air Forces
President and the Commander in Chief of the UPDF has retired Lt Gen Charles Lutaaya as the commander of the UPDF Air Forces. Lt Gen Lutaaya has served as commander, of the Air Forces since January 2017.
According to a statement issued by the UPDF Spokesperson, Brig Gen Felix Kulayigye, Lutaaya has now been appointed as the senior presidential advisor on matters of Air Forces. Subsequently, President Museveni promoted Maj Gen Charles Okidi to Lt Gen and appointed him Commander of Air Forces, while Lt Col Stephen Kiggundu has been promoted to Brig Gen and appointed Deputy Commander of Air Forces.
Lt Gen Okidi has a wealth of military experience having several critical positions in the army, especially in the Air Forces. Okidi has served as Chief of Staff at the UPDF Air Force since 2019. He has also served as director, Operations at the Entebbe Air Force Headquarters. He has served as a presidential pilot for a long time.
