KAMPALA. The Police say that Mityana Municipality Member of Parliament, Francis Zaake was handled well and professionally from Entebbe Airport, rubbishing claims that he was manhandled.

After his arrival in Mityana on Thursday, Zaake claimed that his health condition had been worsened by the police manhandling from Entebbe Airport.

However, addressing a press conference at Police headquarters Naguru on Thursday afternoon, Deputy Police Spokesperson Patrick Onyango said, “He (Zaake) was handled professionally and the people who handled him first introduced themselves to him.”

The Police this morning escorted MP Zaake to his home after his arrival at Entebbe Airport from India, where he has been for treatment.

Onyango said the police escorted the legislator to ensure he safely arrives home.

“You never know there are people who don’t support his ideology and could harm him,” Onyango told journalists.

He had earlier on Wednesday warned that police wouldn’t allow unlawful procession along roads during Zaake’s return, adding that the Force would provide the MP with escort cars from the airport.

Zaake sustained injuries during the last campaign day ahead of the Arua by-election in August.
