President Yoweri Museveni will officiate at the ground breaking of a multi billion shillings Buhinga Stadium in Fort Portal Municipality, Kabarole district.

The move has been welcomed by the district leaders with a smile saying this will boost the sports industry in Tooro and generate income for both the district and Kabarole Football Association.

During the District leaders planning meeting held at the district headquarters, Kitumba mid this week, the district chairperson Mr. Richard Rwabuhinga revealed that the President will on Saturday visit the district to lay a foundation stone at Buhinga stadium and address a rally thereafter.

According to the Chairman, the President will first commission a Shs2.4B chapel at Kyebambe Girls Secondary School.

Mr.Rwabuhinga explains that as Kabarole leaders, they have been asking for bigger projects that benefit a bigger population from the president among which is the construction of Late Noble Mayombo Memorial Secondary school, construction of Buhinga stadium, tarmacking of some roads and government takeover of Mountains of the Moon University of which he has responded positively.

Hon. Sylvia Rwabwogo, Kabarole woman MP says that once Buhinga stadium is completed, it will attract the National and International sports events like the Coca - Cola competitions.

Mr. Dunstan Balaba, Kabarole Chief Administrative Officer says the stadium will be constructed by the UPDF engineers adding that the structural and architectural designs have already been completed.

Currently, the stadium which has hosted several national and regional tournaments like the East African Secondary School games, Copa Coca Cola football tournament and Zone XI soccer tournament among others, is in an appalling state which has been an embarrassment to the district.

According to the plan seen by Kampala Post, a 30,000-seater stadium will be constructed including a perimeter wall, a pavilion, dressing rooms and modern toilets.
