Operation Wealth Creation (OWC) has dismissed as false reports of failure to account for over 900million shillings for seedlings.

Maj. Tabaro Kiconco, the OWC Public Relations Officer said in a statement that there has been social media speculation that 932million Shillings for seedlings has not been accounted for. He says this is not true.

“OWC does not handle money for procurement of seedlings or any other agricultural inputs and as such doesn’t have a budgetary vote or an accounting officer as would be required in such circumstances where handling and expenditure of public money is concerned,” Maj. Kiconco said in a March 18 statement.

He revealed that all budgetary appropriations of government of Uganda towards improving household income through commercialization of agriculture are channeled through the National Agricultural Advisory Development Services (NAADS) which is a designated government entity for that function.

“The mind behind these allegations is a product of misinformed and ignorant calculations,” Major Kiconco added. He urged Ugandans to embrace Operation Wealth Creation activities for enhanced household income, through accessing quality seedlings and other inputs through OWC constituency coordinators countrywide.

About Operation Wealth Creation

Operation Wealth Creation is an intervention commissioned by the President of Uganda, with a role of supporting and supplementing efforts of the designated agency NAADS in carrying out its mandate of improving household income through improved agricultural practices.
