TOKYO. The Government of Uganda through the Ministry of Water and Environment and the National Water and Sewerage Corporation (NWSC) will host the 2019 International Water Association Solutions to Intermittent Water Supply Conference (IWS 2019) and the African Water Association Congress (AFWA 2020) in Kampala, Uganda.
The announcement was made by the Minister of State for Water Hon Ronald Kibuule and the NWSC Board Chairman Dr. Eng Christopher Ebal at the NWSC stall during the World Water Congress in Tokyo, Japan held this week.
Speaking at the stall, Hon Kibuule said that the Government of Uganda through NWSC and the Ministry of Water and Environment are prepared to host the hundreds of delegates during the two conferences.
“We are preparing very informative sessions that will showcase the progress made and the future plans to achieve clean safe water and sanitation for all in Uganda,” he said.
NWSC Board ChairmanChristopher Ebal said that the corporation is making all necessary arrangements to ensure that the solutions to the water and sanitation sector on the African continent are discussed.
“NWSC Uganda is a benchmark for utility efficiency and excellence in Africa. The preparations for the congresses are in high gear,” he added.
The NWSC MD Eng Silver Mugisha was recently elected Vice President of the International Water Association.
The International Water Association conference brings together over 10,000 Water and Sanitation experts to look for solutions to the Global water and Sanitation challenges.
This year, the Conference was held in Tokyo, Japan. The dates when Uganda will host the conferences are yet to be communicated.
