Uganda on Sunday emerged Rugby Sevens champions of the 2018 East Africa Community (EAC) games held in Bujumbura, Burundi.
Ahead of the games, Uganda were already dubbed favorites for their contingent was filled with veteran players who had played both at global and continental level.
The games were played on round robin format with all the teams playing two games and the overall best emerging champions.
In their first game, Uganda beat 47-07 hosts Burundi to set up the highest try rate in the tournament. In the second game, Uganda also did better by beating Burundi 51-00.
Uganda emerged overall best with the highest try rate and were crowned champions.
A few days ago, Uganda volleyball teams (both men and women) also bagged gold after edging the Burundian sides in the finals.
The 2018 EAC games are the first ever with the organizers earlier on revealing that they will be played annually in different East African countries.
The games are aimed at promoting integration in the East African region.
