The Kitende based Vipers SC alias The Venoms are through to the round of the last 16 of the Stanbic Uganda Cup after a 3-1 win against fellow top-flight outfits Police FC at St Maty’s Stadium, Kitende.
The visitors gave Miguel Da Costa’s charges an early threat with a one minute goal when Norman Ogik slotted home after Vipers’ back Yayo Lutimba arrived late for the occasion.
However, the Corps fairy tale lasted only for five minutes after Milton Kario levelled matters following Yayo Lutimba’s cross who sought to make amends.
Just at the 9th minute, the Venoms were forced to make a substitution when Tadeo Lwanga picked a knock and he was replaced by Deus Bukenya.
With Vipers looking very comfortable especially with the confidence expressed by the ‘twelfth player,’ they made several attempts to get the game lead.
Vipers second goal arrived at the 24th minute when Erisa Ssekisambu slotted home to set his side’s fan base ablaze.
2-1 was how the score board read by break time in favor of the fire spitting Venoms.
After the break, Vipers were at it again, attacking the slow motioned Police who struggled to get the ball pat their half.
At the 59th minute, Venoms sealed matters with a third goal after Karisa set up Daniel Sserunkuma who chipped the set pieces past Police FC’s custodian.
No more changes occurred in terms of scores and Vipers proved to be the better side and matched to the round of the last 16 a shoulder higher.
Meanwhile, Onduparaka failed to mount a comeback on Soana FC. The Arua boys were shown the exit after they lost 2-3.
Onduparaka were the pre-match favorites but luck was not on their side.
In Mbarara, a stunner was handed to Express FC who were knocked out by Kitara FC on penalties after falling prey to a 4-3 loss that came after a 1-all draw.
