UCAA names six firms approved to train pilots in Uganda
Uganda Civil Aviation Authority (UCAA) released a list of firms that are approved to offer training services in the aviation sector.
The list was updated on September 24, 2020, according to the UCAA statement.
The organizations are Moriah Aviation Training Centre, which is located along Bubuli Road in Katabi sub-county, Entebbe; Aero Consultants (E.A) Ltd, located in Entebbe; East African Civil Aviation Academy (Eacaa) found in Soroti; The Vine Air, located in Jinja; The Kajjansi Flying School, found in Kampala; and Uganda Aviation Academy, located along Entebbe Road.
UCAA was not readily available for comment on the approval process. An official at Vine Air told me once a company is approved it is given ATO, or Approved Training Organization, number.
Vine, aside from training pilots, also offers chartered flights. According to the UCAA website, there are 14 government-owned airfields and nineteen aerodromes, including private ones.
UCAA is mandated to coordinate and oversee Uganda’s aviation industry, including licensing, regulation, air search and rescue, air traffic control, ownership of airports and aerodromes, and Ugandan and international aviation law.
