UK-Uganda Trade Summit to Promote Investment
The UK-Uganda Trade Summit will be held on September 10 with the focus on promoting trade and investment between the two countries, according to Uganda Investment Authority.
The Authority says the event will attract prominent industry leaders, investors and ministers from the UK and East Africa.
This will create a platform to forge new business deals, invest in bankable projects and reinforce economic relationships between the UK and Uganda, including the East African Community.
President Yoweri Museveni and the UK State for International Trade Annie-Marie Trevelyan will grace the event.
Speakers that have been confirmed include UIA Director General Robert Mukiza, Private Sector Foundation Chairman Elly Karuhanga, Director SACONA Foods and Global Innovations Perez Ochieno.
The event will be held in London. The UK supports Uganda in various sectors of development.
In November of last year, UK Trade Envoy to Uganda Lord Popat and the British High Commissioner to Uganda Kate Airey visited the Kampala Industrial Park in Namanve, which is being constructed with a loan of 215 million euros (about Shs860 billion) from the United Kingdom Export Finance (UKEF).
Expected to be fully completed in 2024, according to Uganda Investment Authority, the park already hosts 80 industries that are now fully operational, with over 300 at various stages of development.
