Woman Arrested at Fort portal Hospital Gate Fleeing with Stolen Baby

Godliver Tumushabe, the officer in charge Criminal Investigation at Fort portal Police Station says on interrogation however, the suspect denied stealing the child. She claimed that she had been sent by a doctor to present the baby for medical attention in the absence of the mother.

Kabarole-Police in Fort portal have arrested a 21-year-old woman for allegedly stealing a one week old baby.

Immaculate Kunihira who claims to have been a patient at Fort portal Regional Referral Hospital, was intercepted by security at the hospital gate on Monday afternoon trying to disappear with a baby she  had reportedly stolen from the Children’s Ward.

Godliver Tumushabe, the officer in charge Criminal Investigation at Fort portal Police Station says on interrogation however, the suspect denied stealing the child. She claimed that she had been sent by a doctor to present the baby for medical attention in the absence of the mother.

Tumushabe maintains that the suspect is being detained as police investigate her claims. Meanwhile the baby has been reunited with the mother at the hospital.
