Members of Parliament were on Wednesday afternoon left terrified after two strangers attempted to ‘harm’ them during plenary.

The men identified as Mutasa Kafeero and Senjaka Dafarta were seated in the stranger’s gallery following proceedings of the House. The two claim to be members of the Red Top Brigade Movement, according to a petition which they were found with.

The MPs in a sitting chaired by Speaker Rebecca Kadaga were debating about the forthcoming Land information System International Conference, before two irate men jumped about 5meters high from the stranger’s gallery into the chambers and landed on the left-hand side of the House where opposition MPs sit. The two were screaming on top of their voice accusing MPs of corruption.

In a flash, MPs were struggling to find their way out of the chambers, while others screamed in fear, disrupting business in the House. While most MPs ran out of the chambers, a few MPs including state minister for Sports Hamson Obua braved the storm and wrestled one of the strangers with the help of the Sergeants-At-Arm and immediately whisked him away. The two are currently under arrest as investigations start. Plenary resumed shortly after the arrest of the two.

Upon resumption, Speaker Kadaga promised to ‘deal with’ them severely for breaching the Parliamentary Rules of Procedure in regards to the conduct and behavior of the strangers in Parliament.
