IGP Ochola, BOU Governor Mutebile in Parliament for Vetting after New Contracts

President Yoweri Museveni has renewed the contracts of Martins Ochola Okoth and Prof Emmanuel Mutebile as Inspector General of Police (IGP) and Bank of Uganda Governor respectively.

IGP Ochola and BOU’s Mutebile are today, Friday expected to appear before the Parliamentary Committee on Appointments chaired by Speaker Rebecca Kadaga for vetting. Mutebile is expected to face the vetting committee at 12pm while Ochola will walk in 30minutes later.

Mutebile has been Governor, Bank of Uganda since 2001 making him the longest serving governor. His contract has now been renewed for a record 4 times. Ochola was first appointed IGP in 2018 replacing Gen Kale Kayihura, the man he deputized.
