Museveni Promotes Five UPDF Officers
President Yoweri Museveni, who is also the Commander in Chief of the Uganda People's Defence Forces (UPDF), promoted four officers to the rank of brigadier and one to the rank of major general.
Defense Spokesperson Flavia Byekwaso, who announced the promotions without giving details, said Brig. Dennis Asiimwe is now a major general.
He is the head of the Uganda Military Engineering College (UMEC), a tertiary institution of higher learning, that instructs qualified military officers and technicians in various fields of engineering and science.
The colonels that have become brigadiers John Nsubuga Wasswa, Godfrey Sambwa Kimbowa, Edson Muhanguzi, and Frank Kyakonye.
The country is also awaiting the appointment of a new chief of defence forces following the appointment of Gen. David Muhoozi as junior internal affairs minister.
