Hotel Africana's BMK Will Forever be Remembered for His Contribution - Museveni

President Yoweri Museveni has described the proprietor of Hotel Africana Hajji Bulaimu Muwanga Kibirige as a man who created an indelible mark in the business sector in Uganda and Africa.

"I commiserate with the family of Dr. Hajji Bulaimu Muwanga Kibirige (BMK), relatives, business associates, and well-wishers. Dr. Bulaimu will forever be remembered for his indelible contribution towards building a fortune in Uganda & Africa. May his soul rest in eternal peace," Mr Museveni said in a tweet Friday afternoon.

Kibirige lost a long battle to Prostate Cancer on Friday morning at Nairobi Hospital in Kenya where he was receiving treatment.

At 67, BMK has been the Chairman and Managing Director of the BMK Group of companies.

Veteran journalist Andrew Mwenda who was BMK's friend tweeted Friday morning.

"This morning, Haji Muwanga Bulaimu Kibirige, popularly known as BMK, died after battling cancer for very long. This icon of Uganda indigenous enterprise has left us a legacy," Mr Mwenda said in the tweet.

Mwenda noted that through a book authored by the late businessman he will continue to live, to teach and to inspire.
