PLU: Toyota and Kabanda Assume Key Leadership Roles as Karugire Named Head of Legal Affairs

posted onApril 15, 2024

In a fresh development, Michael Nuwagira Kaguta, known as Toyota, has been appointed as the National Vice Chairman of the Patriotic League of Uganda (PLU). This decision was made during the Central Committee meeting held in Entebbe on Monday.

Toyota will now act as the interim chairman of the civic movement, formerly recognized as the MK Movement, following the appointment of the movement's leader, Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba, as the Chief of Defence Forces (CDF).

Andrew Mwenda, the Director of Communications for the PLU, explained the leadership reshuffle by stating that Gen Kainerugaba's new role prevents him from actively participating in the movement's activities.

Furthermore, David Kabanda, the Member of Parliament representing Kasambya County, has been promoted to the position of Secretary General within the movement.

Hon. Michael Mawanda has been designated as the Director in charge of mobilization, while prominent city lawyer Edwin Karugire assumes the role of Director of Legal Affairs.

The PLU continues to evolve and adapt to changing circumstances following these leadership changes. The new appointments aim to sustain and further the civic movement's objectives under the guidance of Toyota, Kabanda, and the rest of the leadership team.
