Robber Injured in Police Shoot out at Wakiso Factory

Police in Wakiso district are hunting for a group of unidentified thugs for breaking into MACKS Investments factory; robbing money, a computer and mobile phones.
Kampala Metropolitan Police Spokesperson, Patrick Onyango says the thugs numbering about six, including a woman broke into the factory in Kisasa Village at about 3:30am on Wednesday. Armed with machetes and other breaking implements, the group reportedly disarmed the security guard, a one Godfrey Rwabwoma who is attached to Security Plus Co. Ltd.
They later robbed Shs1, 500,000/, a computer and Mobile phones. “Buloba Police Station was informed and responded in time, they engaged robbers thereby shooting one of them called Joseph Tamale in the arms and disabled him. He was arrested while the others escaped with injuries,” Onyango explained. “The scene of crime has been visited by senior detectives including the Scenes of Crime Officers and is still being processed,” he further explained.
Meanwhile the injured robber has been taken for treatment at J & M Clinic in Wakiso, where he is being guarded by police. Onyango reveals that a robbery “case has been opened and statements recorded from various witnesses including police officers and the suspect.” “Telephone numbers that were robbed from the victims have been submitted to cyber offices. Security has been beefed up at the affected factory and other sister factories,” Onyango said.
The police appeal to members of the public and clinics in and around Kampala to be vigilant and report to police in case anybody comes to treat fresh gunshot wounds.
