Police in Wakiso have arrested a couple over alleged murder of their son.

The suspects, 23 year old Patrick Busulwa and his wife Allen Mukirwa, residents of Ssumbwe in Wakiso district reportedly murdered their son, two and half year old Patrick Simbwa. Kampala Metropolitan Police Spokesperson Patrick Onyango says Busulwa reportedly hit his biological son on their house floor killing him instantly on October 13.

He later dumped the body in the nearby swamp, before transferring it to the neighbour’s pit latrine on Wednesday. Investigation into the motive of the murder are already underway, but police preliminary findings indicate that Mukirwa, who is a step mother to the deceased, forced the husband to kill the little boy. “The woman did not want the step son to be with them,” Onyango told this Website.

Meanwhile on Thursday the couple was rescued by police from an angry mob that wanted to lynch them. Prior Busulwa had reported a case of child disappearance to local authorities who later involved in police. “The case was first registered as disappearance by the father to the deceased after area local council authorities put him on pressure to account for the son’s whereabouts. Later police was called in and interrogated him and he confessed to the killing,” Onyango explained.

The suspect later led Police to Mr. Noah Nsereko’s pit latrine, where the body was found. The couple is currently being detained at Wakiso Police station on charges of murder. Relatedly last month a man in Kagadi district strangled his biological son to death and dumped the body in the pit latrine. He had severally complained that the child doesn’t belong to him.
