President Yoweri Museveni has received a delegation of Chinese investors and disclosed to them the Government’s plans to revive Uganda national airline.
The President made the remarks on Friday, 14th July 2017 at State House, Entebbe when he received the Chinese investors’ delegation led by Mr. Zhu Weilin, Manager of the Beijing Sino-Aero Construction Engineering Co. Ltd, a Chinese Government company that specializes in the construction of airports and supply of foreign-made aircraft to the Chinese domestic market.
“We are going to revive the airline. It is very important because of tourism and cargo. It will serve us in the transport of cargo linking us with China, Dubai and other destinations. It will also serve well the Ugandans in the Diaspora,” he told the delegation.
The President informed his guests that Ugandans need glass for building as well as packaging glass containers and bottles. He encouraged the Chinese delegation to invest in the processing of building materials in Uganda such as marble, granite and cement. He observed that cement is on high demand in Uganda.
The Manager of Beijing Sino-Aero Construction Engineering Co. Ltd, Mr. Zhu Weilin, expressed interest in the company partnering with the Uganda Government in the establishment of a national airline. He was impressed with the investment climate that the Government has created in Uganda adding that they are interested in the manufacture of glasses, marbles and pharmaceuticals.
