The State Minister for ICT Peter Ogwang on Saturday received a hero’s welcome home following his ministerial appointment.

The Usuk County legislator made a maiden return to his constituency since he was appointed minister in December last year. The Minister’s convoy was sandwiched by a mammoth crowd who waited to receive him at Komolo Bridge, about 5kms to Katakwi town.

Overwhelmed by the chanting crowds, Ogwang had to come out of his official car and trek with them up to town.

The Minister also made various stopovers along the way to greet the other residents that waited for him by the roadside.

As if the trek wasn’t enough, one of his supporters in Getom Sub county asked the Minister to Commission and ‘bless’ his house. In the most bizarre move, a group of youths lifted the Minister shoulder-high up to the house rooftop, where they gave him a seat amid ululation.

The excited supporters also offered their Member of Parliament two bulls, which they said were in appreciation for his services to the area. The Minister who assumed office early this week also addressed people in Katakwi town, Ocorimongin Market and Aliakamer, his home Parish.

He preached peace and forgiveness, especially to those who spread falsehoods about his academic papers, with intent to ruin his ministerial appointment. Ogwang also promised to serve all the people equally.
