Former Deputy Clerk to Parliament, Obabaru Dies

Former Deputy Clerk to Parliament, Okello Obabaru has died 5 months after losing his wife.

Obabaru rose through the ranks to become Deputy Clerk in charge of Corporate Affairs until last year when he retired.

The acting director of Communication and Public Affairs, Helen Kaweesa announced that Obabaru passed away this Sunday morning.

“He passed away early this morning. Mr. Okello had lost his wife in May this year. It is a sad day for us indeed in the Parliamentary Service,” Kaweesa said in a message.

While at the Parliamentary Service, Obabaru headed activities of Corporate Affairs Directorate comprising eight Departments; Department of Finance, Department of Administration and Transport Logistics, Department of Sergeant-At-Arms, Department of Library Services, Department of Information and Communication Technology, Department of Human Resource, Department of Corporate Planning and Strategy and Department of Communication and Public Affairs.
