A total of 1,181,666 candidates have registered to sit for national examinations (PLE, UCE and UACE) in the coming year, the UNEB Executive Secretary Dan Odongo said in a statement.

According to the statement, they recorded a percentage increase of 3.8% in total candidature, as 1,138,000 were registered last year.

Registration of candidates started on October 22 and the process ended on Monday, December 7.

According to UNEB, UCE will start on March 1 and end on April 6, 2021; PLE on March 30 and end on March 31, while UACE will begin on April 12 and end on May 3, 2021.

Going forward, headteachers have been tasked to display the draft registers and albums to enable candidates to verify their registration data.

“This will go on until the end of the term. In case of any errors, amendments can be effected at UNEB,” reads the statement.

For PLE candidates, Odongo says, an amendment form can be downloaded from the portal, while for UCE and UACE Candidates, an amendment request is made to UNEB.

Registration status of candidates can be confirmed by sending an SMS to 6600, using any telephone network.

“They should type Reg. (space) Full index No. then send to 6600 e.g. Reg. 004182/019 send to 6600,” says the statement.
