Burundi President to Stay in Uganda for 2-day Official Visit

Burundi President Évariste Ndayishimiye will stay in Kampala for two days, according to Lindah Nabusayi, the press secretary to President Yoweri Museveni said in a statement.

Nabusayi, who did not reveal details of his stay, said it will be “ceremonies” of the “two-day official visit” will be held at State House, Entebbe.

President Ndayishimiye is among world leaders who flew into Uganda for President Museveni's swearing-in ceremony that was held yesterday at Kololo Independence Grounds.

Museveni, who was taking over the presidency for the sixth term since he took over power in 1986, will lead the East African nation for the next five years.

Ndayishimiye began his seven-year term on 18 June 2020.

Uganda and Burundi relate in different aspects of development, including trade, which has been growing over the years, with Uganda exporting US$58.53 million to the tiny East African country in 2020, as per United Nations COMTRADE database on international trade. Exports to Burundi include essential oils, perfumes, cosmetics, toiletries, tobacco, plastics, iron and steel, beverages, spirits and vinegar, and so on.
