The Office of the President has organized a two days’ workshop for all RDCs/RCCs and their deputies from Greater Masaka sub region.

The workshop is scheduled for 3rd-4th September, 2021 at Hotel Brovad, Masaka City. According to Hajji Yunus Kakande, the Secretary, Office of the President, the workshop intends to allow the RDCs from the sub region to brainstorm and share experiences on improving security in the greater Masaka region.

Since June, greater Masaka has experienced heightened incidences of murder resulting in the death of at least 26 people. The patterns of these killings usually take place between 20:00hours-22:00 hours of the night, by assailants waylaying the victims and attacking vulnerable people in their houses using blunt objects. Apparently, these murders are not motivated by proprietary gain, but intended to cause fear, terror and discrediting national security.

According to the program, the Minister of Security, Gen Jim Muhwezi is expected to make a presentation on the ongoing insecurity in Masaka sub region. Col. Kibrai Ambaku, the director, Crime Intelligence is also expected to make a presentation on security issues.

Hajji Kakande in his letter addressed to the RDCs says that the workshop is also intended to equip them with relevant skills to effectively fast-track and monitor government policies, programs and projects to improve service delivery. The RDCs are expected to report at the venue tomorrow ahead of the workshop which starts tomorrow.
