Police Spokesman Kayima Lashes at His Impersonators
By Fred Kiva
KAMPALA. Police Spokesperson Emilian Kayima has lost his cool and branded as “fools” people who concoct statements and falsely attribute them to him.
Kayima was reacting to yet another statement being circulated on social media alleging that police have banned the October 20 Bobi Wine’s Kyarenga Concert at Namboole Stadium.
Kayima who issued a disclaimer against a similar statement last week says, “I have just returned from leave and have not issued any statement.”
Asked on the possible motive of those concocting the statements, Kayima who sounded irate on phone described the authors as “fools and whatever they are writing is utter nonsense.”
The usually calm Police Spokesperson also lashed out at some media outlets which he accused of quoting him in their stories without talking to him.
On Tuesday evening, a statement attributed to Emilian Kayima circulated on various social media platforms alleging that police had cancelled the Kyarenga concert, on grounds that it had a hidden motive of overthrowing government.
This is the second false statement on the same concert attributed to Kayima in less than a week. Last Friday, another statement was circulated cautioning the Kyadondo East legislator against staging the music concert as a politician.
The statement which police later disowned had warned that Bobi Wine would not be allowed to stage the concert as Kyagulanyi, the politician.
Kayima did not disclose whether the concert has been cleared or not. This Website could not readily speak to the concert organizers about the same at the time of filing the story.
