Museveni Appoints New Deputy IGP

President Yoweri Museveni has appointed Maj. Gen. Geoffrey Tumusiime Katsigazi as the new Deputy Inspector General of Police (IGP), Deputy Presidential Press Secretary Farouk Kirunda has revealed. 

The Deputy IGP post fell vacant following the demise of Maj. Gen Paul Lokech who died on 21st, August 2021 after a short illness.

Prior to his new posting, Gen Katsigazi was serving as the Deputy Commander Air Forces (D/CAF), a position he took over on 24th January 2020.

Katsigazi has been the Defence Liaison Officer at the East African Community Headquarters in Arusha. Before then, he served in the capacity of the Commander of Motorized Infantry Brigade and the Acting Chief of Staff Land Forces, among other appointments.

Museveni has also renewed the contract of the Commissioner General of Prisons, Dr. Johnson Byabashaija. Byabashaija has been at the helm of Uganda Prisons since 2005.

The President also appointed Brig. Gen. Henry Isoke as the new head of the State House Anti-Corruption Unit replacing Col. Nakalema who is on a course.
