Nabagereka Memoirs: Highly Discussed Twins not Kabaka's
Buganda Kingdom has issued a statement about Kabaka Ronald Muwenda Mutebi and the queen of Buganda Nabagereka Slyvia Nagginda about the highly discussed set of twins that the Queen is said to have been blessed with over ten years ago.
In her soon-to-be-released autobiography titled, “The Nnaabagereka of Buganda Queen Sylvia Nagginda Luswata,” the Queen writes that she was blessed with a set of twins.
On Page 205 of the autobiography, Nagginda writes, “On December 6, 2010, I was blessed with two more girls Jade Nakato and Jasmine Babirye born in Kampala… They’re two amazing kids who are mostly happy and are passionate about people which, at their age, I find astounding…”
This got the Baganda and Ugandans in general expressing disbelief and wondering how the kingdom kept the secret for the last 13 years.
However in a statement shared this afternoon, the kingdom has said that Kabaka Mutebi has no biological twins.
“The last Kabaka to give birth to twins while on the throne was Sekabaka Daudi Chwa who gave birth to Princes; Kalemera Wasswa and Kiggala Kato in 1925.”
This has now caused a fresh debate regarding the paternity of the twins with some people wondering whether the Queen 'cheated' on the Kabaka. From the statement, however, it is noted that the twins are neither the Queen not the King's biological children. Below is the statement issued by the Kingdom on its official Twitter handle.
