A group of 654 Ugandans and legal residents who were stranded in India and Saudi Arabia have returned to Uganda, according to the ministry of foreign affairs.

The ministry of foreign affairs will today welcome over 300 Ugandans that are returning from Oman, a country on the southeastern coast of the Arabian Peninsula in Western Asia.

250 Ugandans and legal residents who were stranded in the United Arab Emirates (U.A.E) are returning today, the ministry of foreign affairs said in a statement.

A total of 87 Ugandan nationals and legal residents who were stranded abroad due to the Covid-19 pandemic returned home on Saturday evening.

According to the ministry of foreign affairs, 40 were repatriated from Germany, Poland, Austria, the Vatican, Czech Republic, and Hungary.

The ministry of foreign affairs will today evening welcome Ugandans that had been stranded in South Africa and Zambia due to the prohibition of passengers amidst the Covid-19 pandemic.

The ministry of foreign affairs has released an update of the timetable that will be followed as Ugandans that were stranded abroad due to the prohibition of passenger flights return.

As many as 276 Ugandans, Uganda residents and dependent pass holders flew out of the US Friday destined for Uganda, as the Government resumes the repatriation of Ugandans and legal residents stranded abroad due to the coronavirus lockdown restrictions.
