Oulanyah for Speaker

Rebecca Kadaga has announced that she will contest as independent in the speakership race tomorrow, Monday.

NRM Central Executive Committee has endorsed Jacob Oulanyah as the flagbearer for Speakership race.

CEC this morning reconvened at State House, Entebbe, after failing to conclude on the Party choice for Speaker and Deputy Speaker on Saturday. 

Former Deputy Speaker Jacob Oulanyah has officially expressed interest for Speakership seat amidst glamour and pomp. Oulanyah arrived at NRM Electoral Commission offices on plot 13, Kyadondo Road at exactly 11.30am flanked by a huge crowd of MPs waving flags in support for his candidature.

The NRM Central Executive Committee (CEC) will on May 22nd meet to vet Party candidates vying for the position of speaker and deputy speaker of the 11th parliament.

The State House has confirmed the new date for the first sitting of the 11th Parliament where MPs will elect their Speaker and Deputy Speaker.

Deputy Speaker Jacob Oulanyah has backed President Yoweri Museveni, also chairperson of the NRM Party for suspending campaigns for Speakership.

Members of the Lango Parliamentary Group (LGP) have backed Jacob Oulanyah for Speaker.
