The General Secretary of the Patriotic League of Uganda (PLU), Twalla Fadhil, has warned members against engaging in extortion, criminal activities, physical attacks and wearing military or paramilitary-style uniforms, saying offenders will face disciplinary action.
In a statement issued on July 23, 2026, shortly after assuming office, Fadhil said PLU is built on the rule of law and will not tolerate conduct that violates the organisation’s values.
He said every member must respect the law and maintain discipline to protect the organisation’s credibility.
Fadhil warned members against engaging in extortion, taking part in criminal activities or physically attacking fellow PLU members or other Ugandans. He also barred members from dressing in military or paramilitary-style uniforms.
He said anyone found engaging in such conduct would face appropriate disciplinary measures.
The General Secretary also directed that no individual or group should organise, announce or convene any event or activity in the name of PLU without prior knowledge and, where necessary, approval from his office, the party chairman, Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba, or members of the Central Committee.
The directive appears aimed at tightening control over activities conducted under the PLU name and ensuring official oversight of the organisation’s programmes.
Fadhil urged members to uphold discipline, integrity and respect for the law as PLU seeks to strengthen its public image.
He also appealed for unity within the organisation, saying members with grievances should use internal channels instead of resorting to confrontations.
“For those who have differences, the secretariat is open. We want a united PLU and I am available to receive your complaints so that we can find a way of solving them. Fighting is never a solution,” he said.
