286 Ugandans have today returned from the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan. They had been stranded there due to the suspension of passenger flights to prevent the spread of Covid-19.

They left the Arab nation aboard Jordan Aviation flight R53875 from Queen Alia International Airport at 5am.

They arrived at Entebbe International Airport at 12:17pm.

"This is the fourth repatriation exercise the Embassy has undertaken with the first three having taken place on 22nd July 2020,  28th July 2020 and 12th August 2020 respectively which ensured that 739 Ugandans and legal residents in Saudi Arabia and Oman returned home safely," the foreign affairs ministry said in a statement.

"The Embassy undertook the registration process of Ugandan nationals who were stranded in the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan coordinated their return".

Over 3000 Ugandans have been repatriated since the exercise began, the ministry of ICT and National Guidance said in a Sunday statement.
