57 Presidential Guard Officers Complete Intensive Induction Course
A group of 57 officers from the Police Presidential Guard (PPG) has completed an intensive Tier II induction course, equipping them with advanced tactical skills. The officers were officially passed out on October 22, 2024, at the Fort Samora Machel Special Training School in Nakaseke District.
Brig Gen. Paul Namawa, Chief of Staff-Special Forces Command (SFC), commended the officers for their dedication. “This course was a test of your physical endurance, mental resilience, and tactical expertise. You are now elite warriors ready to take on the responsibilities of protecting Very Important Persons (VIPs),” he stated.
He expressed gratitude to President Yoweri Museveni for his strategic vision in establishing the PPG and recognized General Muhoozi Kainerugaba for his guidance in building the capacity of Uganda's security forces. He also thanked the Uganda Police Force (UPF) for selecting and training the graduates.
Director of Human Resource Development and Training at the UPF, AIGP Moses Kafeero, congratulated the graduates, urging them to maintain a positive attitude toward further training opportunities. "Attitude is key in training. The skills you acquire will help you grow in your career," he emphasized.
Col. Justus Rukundo, Commandant of Oliver Reginald Tambo School of Leadership, stressed the importance of ideological development, quoting Burkina Faso’s former President Thomas Sankara: “A soldier without political training is a potential criminal.”
The training program, which included small unit operations and tactical acumen, is expected to bolster the officers' readiness for complex security challenges in their future roles.
Maj. Aloysious Nsobya, the Commandant of the training school, lauded the resilience of the trainees and urged them to serve the country diligently.
