The Senior Presidential Advisor for Special Operations, Lt Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba has warned presidential candidate Robert Kyagulanyi that he will be defeated if he wants a fight.
"I told you, my young brother, that you can NEVER intimidate us. We are much stronger than you can ever imagine to be. If you want to fight we will simply defeat you. We want peace! But if you attempt to fight us then Bring it on!" Gen Kainerugaba tweeted.
Gen Kainerugaba's warning echoes President Museveni's message after his nomination on Monday in which he encouraged everybody to maintain peace.
"I hear talk that some people want to cause chaos. Those plans will not succeed. Anyone planning mischief will fail. No one should threaten Ugandans with chaos," Mr Museveni said.
Opposition politicians have been rallying Ugandans to defy electoral guidelines that are, among other things, aimed at curbing the spread of the deadly COVID-19.
Earlier this year, Gen Kainerugaba sent a similar message to Bobi Wine in which he advised him not to seek war over peace.
Describing Bobi Wine as his "brother" and "past friend", Gen Kainerugaba said on his Twitter handle that he was ready to hold talks with Bobi Wine.
"Many of my supporters are telling me to talk with my brother Bobi Wine. I have no problem talking to him. We have talked in the past and were friends. I just advise all the youth never to seek war over peace," Gen Kainerugaba said then.
Despite Gen Kainerugaba's olive branch extended to the singer, Bobi Wine did not take the opportunity.
