The Chief Coordinator of Operation Wealth Creation (OWC) Gen Caleb Akandwanaho Wednesday attended the same social function with the Senior Presidential Advisor for Special Operations and Commander UPDF Land Forces Lt Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba for the first time in 12 years.

Lt Gen Kainerugaba thanked his younger brother and main celebrant Mr Alex Mukonzi Akandwanaho who brought him together with his uncle for function after such a long time.

This was at the wedding of Mr Mukonzi who was tying the knot with his long-time friend Manuela Taratibu at Serena Kigo.

Gen Kainerugaba who was Mukonzi's best man told the guests how it was not easy to have him and his uncle (Gen Saleh) at the same social function despite meeting for other engagements.

"Putting me and my uncle (Gen Salim Saleh) together in the same social function is not simple. The last time was during Esteri's wedding (Gen Saleh's daughter)12 years ago, since then we never ever meet on social occasions, it is always work. Konka Alex yakikora (Alex has done it). It is not simple in our family, so thank you very much, Alex," Gen Kainerugaba said.

Gen Kainerugaba congratulated his younger brother, Alexander, and hailed him for networking with many people from all over the world at his young age.

He noted that it was because of the many attributes drawn from his father. "You can see that he has a lot of Afande Saleh's attributes in him," Gen Kainerugaba noted.

Due to Covid-19 restrictions, the ceremony started and ended early and was attended by few family members and close friends including Mukonzi's uncles; Godfrey Aine Sodo, Michael Toyota, and Shadrack Nzeire. Violet Kajubiri, Mukonzi's aunt also attended the function.

Other guests included businessman Charles Mbire, Mr Edwin Karugire, former Nyabushozi MP Col Fred Mwesigye, and David Pulkol among others.

Gen Saleh thanked Mzee Taratibu (Manuela's father) and his delegation for attending the function and blessing the union of their children.

"Thank you for allowing Manuela to join my family. But what I can assure--when somebody is in love, you can't stop him. The love that exists between those two people (Alex and Manuela) is the love I used to have a long time ago with this girl (Jovia)," Gen Saleh said, drawing unrestrained laughter from the guests.

Gen Saleh expressed pleasure at the wedding of his son, remembering that Alex's lifetime reminds him of his successes and problems.

"He was born when I was 30 years old and had just been 'sacked' as army commander. So, I was in a total mess but now my successes are bigger than failures," the OWC leader noted.

He noted that he is proud of Alex because he has internalized his mindset regarding his interests in policy and governance, defense and security, socio-economic development, and ideology.

On his part, Mukonzi thanked his family and friends for always being there for him and narrated how nervous he was, noting that he almost collapsed as the wedding vows were read to him.

"I was not sure whether they (wedding vows) needed to be edited but I can assure you that nothing will go wrong," he said.
