Government through the Ministry of Health has finally agreed to deploy medical interns.

The interns who are mandated to have internship before enrollment for medical practice, have been holed at home for months due to financial inadequacies.

In a press release dated 27 July 2023, the Ministry of Health has announced that they are ready to deploy 1901 medical interns to 58 internship centres across the country.

"Government will therefore deploy 1901 medical interns with the available budget at a net monthly allowance of Shs1 million per intern to facilitate accommodation and feeding," the letter reads.

According to the letter signed by Dr Henry Mwebesa, the Director General Health Services, all the medical interns are expected to report to their various training centers by 3rd August 2023.

"The respective hospital directors will issue the interns with deployment letters and organise for their induction," he said.
