
Govt injects Shs7.39bn into local startups to boost health service delivery
In the third round of the National ICT Initiatives Support Program (NIISP), 45 innovators that participated in the competition aimed at finding solutions to improve health service delivery will share Shs7.39 billion.
After Covid-19 broke out in the country, the Program called innovators to submit projects that can help support the fight against the respiratory illness.
According to a statement from the ministry of ICT and National Guidance, the call attracted over 950 online applications.
Today, the line minister Judith Nabakooba officiated the award ceremony held both virtually and physically at the ministry’s headquarters at Parliament Avenue in Kampala.
The National ICT Initiatives Program, also known as the Innovation Fund, was rolled out to support ICT Innovation and it has so far run for 3 years supporting sectors of Education, Health, Agriculture among others.
NIISP primarily aims at facilitating the growth and development of indigenous software applications to provide systematic and sustainable support to ICT innovators, to promote ICT products and services for improved service delivery.
