President Museveni has named Sarah Langa Siu as the new Chief Registrar of Courts of Judicature, a judiciary spokesperson confirmed the appointment by phone.

Langa replaces Esta Nambayo and becomes the third female to take up this position in the history of the Judiciary. Before Nambayo, it was Flavia Senoga Anglin.

Until this appointment, Sarah Langa was the deputy registrar of the Civil Division of the High Court.

Her predecessor, Esta Nambayo, is now a High Court judge.

The position of the Chief Registrar is one of the top five management positions in the Judiciary after the Chief Justice, Deputy Chief Justice, Principal Judge and the Secretary to Judiciary.

With over a decade of serving the judiciary, Sarah Langa has risen through the ranks from Magistrate Grade I to deputy registrar.

She has also scored a number of awards, including a certificate of recognition for outstanding performance by the Chief Justice emeritus Bart Katureebe, in 2015.

In 2014, Langa served as the Anti-Corruption Court assistant registrar and organized the Court's first open Day, which would be adopted as one of the activities to commemorate the International Anti-Corruption Week.

She also chairs the Justice Law and Order Sector (JLOS) Accountability Sub-Committee under the Human Rights and Accountability Working Group.

Langa holds a Post Graduate Diploma in Public Administration from Uganda Management Institute (UMI) and a Master's degree in Law.

According to information obtained by Kampala Post, the president has also promoted Harriet Nalukwago Ssali, Samuel Emokor, Amos Kwizera, Susan Kanyange and Godfrey Anguandia Opifeni from deputy registrars to full registrars.
