Museveni Refuses to be celebrated, Praises NRA and NRM
President Yoweri Museveni has said that he should not be celebrated as an individual, but rather the groups he has been part of, including the National Resistance Army (NRA) and the National Resistance Movement (NRM), should be recognized for their contributions to Uganda's development.
Speaking at a thanksgiving event at Kololo Ceremonial Grounds, Museveni acknowledged that his achievements would not have been possible without the support of these groups, which date back to his student days, Fronasa, NRA, UPDF, and NRM.
He thanked the organizers of the function but advised them to always remember and segment the groups according to their contributions to Uganda.
He highlighted the NRM's achievements, including implementing security for all, removing roadblocks that were used to extort money from citizens, and introducing immunization programs that have led to a healthy population and the eradication of diseases such as polio, measles, and smallpox.
Museveni cautioned that the theft of drugs from government hospitals must stop to ensure further progress in healthcare. He also noted that once corruption is addressed, schoolchildren will no longer have to pay any charges in government schools, and the NRM's achievements can be properly celebrated.
The event was attended by thousands of Ugandans, including former and current leaders. Museveni emphasized that the focus should be on achieving prosperity for all, following the principles of security, immunization, and education for all.
He however thanked those who have listened to his gospel and are now doing well in wealth creation projects.
