President Museveni is in the U.S. at the invitation of President Joe Biden for the three-day US-Africa Leaders Summit that has been organised with an eye on building on shared values and priorities as well as fostering new economic engagements.

President Yoweri Museveni on Thursday met Victoria Nuland, the US under secretary for political Affairs in Washington D.C for a wideranging discussion that focused on regional security, democracy and human rights.

President Museveni, who described the meeting as "good", said it was held "in the context of diversity and inclusion."

President Museveni is in the U.S. at the invitation of President Joe Biden for the three-day US-Africa Leaders Summit that has been organised with an eye on building on shared values and priorities as well as fostering new economic engagements. 

The summit will also cover issues that include among other topics peace and security, strengthening regional and global health security, promoting food security as well as responding to the climate crisis.

President Museveni recently pointed out that he is attending the summit with the aim of getting partners to cooperate within the process of accelerating the ongoing value addition of products and also expanding and diversifying the economy citing the new industry of designing and manufacturing electric vehicles like buses and cars.

On Tuesday, Museveni addressed a forum on sustainable health cooperation and health security.

President Museveni left Kampala on Sunday and  made a stopover in the UK where he met investors and officials in the UK government, including Andrew Mitchell, UK’s Minister of State (Development & Africa) in London.
