This is the third accident on the same road in less than two weeks. A fatal one was registered a week ago involving a Gaaga Bus, a lorry and a tractor. 23 people died while several others were hospitalized.

Last Wednesday morning, Erute North Member of Parliament, Charles Angiro Guttmoi involved in a motor accident on the same road, just after Karuma Bridge in Kiryandongo district.

Last Monday, cabinet approved stringent measures to curb road carnage following the Gaaga Bus accident. Among the new measures is installation of digital speed limiters in all commercial vehicles and licensing of all goods vehicles requiring such vehicles to meet certain regulatory requirements, among them inspection for road worthiness among others.

Police have also scaled up presence on major highways, with several check points being mounted on road.
