NRM Caucus Convenes Today on PDM, EALA Elections

The National Resistance Movement (NRM) party caucus is expected to sit today, Wednesday 16 March 2022 to discuss “matters of national importance.”

According to the Government Chief Whip who is also the chairperson of the NRM caucus, the meeting will take place at Kololo Ceremonial Grounds at 2pm. He says that the purpose of the meeting is to allow the NRM MP interact with President Yoweri Museveni, who is also chairperson of the party.

Inside sources said the NRM caucus is expected to discuss a wide range of pertinent matters not limited to the implementation of the Parish Development Model (PDM) and the East African Legislative Assembly (EALA) elections. Parliament was last Friday expected to convene in a special sitting to comprehensively discuss government policies on PDM.

The sitting was later called off by the Deputy Speaker Anita Among. The move was intended to allow different political parties in their caucuses to harmonize amongst themselves before the debate ensues.

Through PDM, Government intends to give each parish Shs100m every year to alleviate household poverty. For the start, each parish will get Shs27million.
