Operation Shujaa: Two Terrorists, One UPDF Soldier Killed During Shelling in Eastern Congo
A UPDF soldier was killed as the Congolese army (FARDC) and the Ugandan military (UPDF) battled ADF and ISCAP terrorists in a fire exchange on Monday. Two enemies were killed during the military campaign, which is a continuation of Operation Shujaa launched on November 30, 2021, to eliminate rebels from Eastern Congo.
Defence Spokesperson Brig Felix Kulayigye did not disclose the name of the Ugandan soldier in his Tuesday statement. According to the statement, the ADF and ISCAP terrorists are mainly in:
a) Irumu territory: Tokomeka 1,2&3 Idohu, Loya Luna, Mugulu-Mugulu, Maitatu, Ndimo
b) Mambasa territory areas of Biakato, Samboko Makwangu, Kartum Forest
c) Beni Territory areas of Mangina, Mamove
d) Rwenzori sector; Biangoro, Lusulube, Djerube
e) Mwalika Isale Taliha Kabuwabuwa, River Lume-Semuliki Lume Confluence.
The defence spokesman also revealed that they recovered two guns, 28 ammunition, two walkie-talkies, one generator, one solar panel, an E.A passport in the name of Monde Kasimu Muhanda of Tanzania, DRC National ID belonging to Yuma Malipeka Kibamba, a voice tracker with a memory card, three telephone sets and one FARDC uniform.
"Finally, I wish to reiterate the commitment of the UPDF to continue working alongside FARDC to flush these terrorists out of the region and bring lasting peace to the DRC and the region at large," reads the statement.
