President Yoweri Museveni has Tuesday paid his respects to H.E Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, the late President of United Arabs Emirates (UAE).

Sheikh Khalifa, who served as the president of the UAE and Ruler of Abu Dhabi since November 3, 2004, died at the age of 73 on Friday.

In his condolence message, President Museveni was saddened by Sheikh Khalifa’s death saying during his leadership, Uganda’s relationship with UAE has been growing.

“I extend the condolences to the people of Uganda and my own on the death of Sheikh Khalifa, President of UAE. Our relations with the UAE have been growing and will continue to grow. It is sad that the late president died when he still had capacity to contribute to his country at the age of 73,” Museveni eulogized.

He added, “Nevertheless, the UAE is in the capable hands of the former crown prince who is now the president. I congratulate him and wish him success. May the Almighty God rest the soul of the H.E Khalifa in eternal peace.”

Sheikh Khalifa was buried on Friday at the Sheikh Sultan Bin Zayed, the First Mosque in Abu Dhabi in a funeral prayer ceremony performed by his successor His Highness Sheikh Mohamed Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Ruler of Abu Dhabi.
