President Museveni Promotes 918 UPDF Officers

President Yoweri Museveni, who also serves as the Commander in Chief of the Uganda Peoples' Defence Forces, has promoted 918 officers.

According to a July 10 statement from Brig. Gen. Felix Kulayigye, Director of Defence Public Information, the promotions ranged from the rank of Second Lieutenant to Brigadier General.

Specifically, five officers were promoted from Colonel to Brigadier General, while three were elevated from Acting Colonel to Colonel.

The other promotions are as follows:

• Lieutenant Colonel to Colonel: 15
• Acting Lieutenant Colonel to Lieutenant Colonel: 3
• Major to Lieutenant Colonel: 10
• Acting Major to Major: 10
• Captain to Major: 63
• Acting Captain to Captain: 4
• Lieutenant to Captain: 155
• Second Lieutenant to Lieutenant: 650
