UEFA President Ceferin Visits Uganda
The President of the Union of European Football Associations (UEFA), Aleksander Čeferin has arrived in Uganda.
Čeferin jetted in the country on Tuesday evening where he was received by the Minister of State for Sports, Peter Ogwang and other officials from the National Council of Sports (NCS) at Entebbe International Airport.
He is in Uganda for a one day official visit where he will tomorrow (Wednesday) visit a sports charity project in Acholi Quarters, Kireka under the Aliguma Foundation.
Speaking at the Entebbe Airport VVIP lounge, Čeferin said he is extremely delighted to come to Uganda for the first time ever.
"We have the FIFA Congress in Kigali, but the best part of the congress for me is Uganda. I am looking forward to my stay in Uganda," Čeferin said.
Minister Ogwang said Uganda is privileged to host the UEFA President and is looking forward to building and empowering slum communities through sports.
"On the behalf of the Minister of Education and Sports, First Lady Janet Museveni, it is my singular honour to receive and welcome the President of UEFA, Mr. Aleksander Čeferin who is in Uganda. It is a noble privilege to have you here for the first time. I am optimistic that your visit will breathe new life and hope for our underprivileged young talent," Ogwang tweeted.
Čeferin will then depart for Kigali, Rwanda ahead of the 73rd FIFA Congress which will be held on 16th March 2023.
