Uganda Registers New COVID-19 Death as Cases Soar to 1,656
Uganda has registered one new COVID-19 death as confirmed cases soar to 1,656. According to a statement from the Ministry of Health, the new COVID-19 death is one a 60year old male from Mbale district.
“He presented at a private medical facility in Mbale district with signs and symptoms consistent with COVID-19 and was under isolation. He was then referred to Mbale Regional Referral hospital for further management where he passed on,” the statement reads. This now brings the total number of death to 16.
Apparently, 16 contacts to the deceased have so far been listed. In the same vein, 53 new COVID-19 cases have been registered in the samples tested yesterday, bringing the total confirmed cases to 1,656. Out of the 53, 35 are alerts with 28 coming from Kampala, 2 from Wakiso, 2 from Amuru and 3 from Buikwe, Buvuma and Soroti. The other 18 are contacts to the previously confirmed cases.
