Security Forces Seize More Cars at Anita Among’s Nakasero Home

Security agencies have intensified corruption investigations against former Speaker Anita Among after seizing more vehicles from her Nakasero residence and expanding raids linked to alleged money laundering.

Security agencies on May 20, 2026 seized two more private vehicles from the Nakasero residence of former Speaker of Parliament Anita Among as investigations into alleged corruption and money laundering intensified.

The vehicles, two Toyota Land Cruisers bearing registration numbers UA 630BE and UBH 138W, were loaded onto a police flatbed truck and transported to Naguru Police Headquarters, where other impounded vehicles linked to the probe are being kept.

The operation unfolded under heavy security deployment at Among’s home in Nakasero. Lawyers representing the Bukedea District Woman Member of Parliament later arrived at the residence as officers continued the search.

The latest seizure comes days after security agencies raided Among’s residence in Kigo, where officers towed away a Rolls-Royce and a Range Rover as part of the same investigation.

Investigators have also sealed off Among’s office at Parliament and that of Clerk to Parliament Adolf Mwesigye. Security personnel reportedly arrived at Parliament with an evidence collection van to gather documents and electronic materials linked to the probe.

The crackdown followed the launch of “Operation Maliza Ufisadi” (Operation End Corruption), announced by Chief of Defence Forces Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba, who warned that “no one will be spared” in the campaign against corruption.

The investigations have deepened political pressure on Among, who recently announced that she would not contest for the Speaker position in the 12th Parliament. Her withdrawal came amid growing scrutiny from security agencies and public criticism from some leaders within the ruling National Resistance Movement and the Patriotic League of Uganda.
