Agago: Gen Kainerugaba Fulfills Promise to Compensate Cattle Rustling Victims
AGAGO. The Senior Presidential Advisor for Special Operations, General Muhoozi Kainerugaba fulfilled his commitment of providing compensation to individuals who were affected by the Karimojong cattle rustlers and had lost their cattle.
To this effect, a total of 274 cows were personally delivered by Gen Kainerugaba's Military Assistant, Captain Yonah Asasira on Friday.
The cows were received by prominent area leaders, area MPs, RDCs and other elected leaders who will be overseeing their distribution to the rightful owners in a planned event slated for Saturday at Agago District Headquarters.
This initiative aims to benefit those who were directly affected, further demonstrating the government's commitment to serving the people's interests.
This development comes following a recent visit by Gen Kainerugaba who interacted with the people of Acholi particularly in Agago and Kitgum.
Since his visit, Gen Kainerugaba made commitments to the people to ensure normalcy in their areas.
Some of the commitments made include the compensation for those who lost their cows and improved deployment to enhance the security of the people and their property especially livestock. It should be remembered that Gen Kainerugaba also ordered the withdraw of UPDF soldiers hailing from Karamoja.
The residents complained that the said UPDF soldiers were among those conniving with the rustlers.
The General promised to act on some of the issues affecting the people, noting that he would also bring them to the attention of the President.
