The ministry of education and sports says 237,930 teachers have been vaccinated against Covid-19 so far, translating to 43.3% of the target number.

Over 15 million learners in Uganda were sent home to prevent the spread of Covid-9 due to congestion in classrooms.

The government’s plan is to vaccinate learners who are aged 18 years and above and workers in the education sector to ensure the safe re-opening of schools.

To step up the vaccination exercise, the health ministry has rolled out vaccination sites across the country, with each sub-county getting at least five.

Uganda expects 45.3 million doses of vaccines, with 9 million coming from Johnson and Johnson this month, 18 million from Sinopharm at the beginning of October, the Covax facility will donate 18 million doses and 300,000 doses are expected from China.
