Gen Kainerugaba Hails Uganda’s Strategic Relations With France

The Senior Presidential Advisor for Special Operations Lt Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba last evening discussed Uganda’s cooperation with France in areas of security and strategic alliance. 

The meeting happened at the residence of the French Ambassador to Uganda in Nakasero.

Gen Kainerugaba welcomed the new ambassador--His Excellency Jules-Armand Aniambossou to Uganda before the two discussed areas of strategic interest to their respective countries.

Gen Kainerugaba tweeted after the meeting, hailing the relations between Uganda and France.

“Yesterday (Wednesday) it was my pleasure to meet the new French Ambassador, His Excellency Jules-Armand Aniambossou. We discussed our excellent security cooperation programs,” Gen Kainerugaba said, adding that: “The Franco-Uganda strategic alliance continues to be very strong. Welcome to Uganda.”

Ambassador Aniambassou replaced former Stephanie Rivoal who completed her diplomatic tour of duty in March this year.

After his arrival, the new envoy described Uganda as “one of the strategic epicenters of the region in terms of business, the economy, security, and humanitarian issues”.

Areas of interest

Speaking earlier on at the commemoration of the 230th anniversary of the Storming of Bastille Prisons in Paris, the new envoy said Uganda needed all levels of businesses--from large corporations to small and medium-sized enterprises.

He noted that he had also identified the sectors in which he wanted to further develop ties with Uganda including agriculture and sustainable development, the promotion of youth and women.
