Hoima District Officials Convicted for Forgery
The Anti-Corruption Court has Friday convicted and sentenced three officials of Hoima District on charges of forgery.
According to prosecution, the trio forged executive commitee minutes alleging that they had been authorized to hire out road equipment to private individuals whereas not.
The officials are; District Vice chairperson Benson Chiche, Secretary for production Jackson Magambo and secretary for Finance, Geoffrey Kumakech.
The officials who have been on trial since 2021 were arrested by State House Anti-Corruption Unit together with Police after a complaint was recieved that the accused were allegedly hiring out District road equipment to a private businessman in Kiryandongo District.
The District Road construction equipment included a vibral roller and grader.
Working together with Police, the matter was investigated and the equipment was recovered and handed over to Ministry of Works.
The accused have been handed a sentence of paying a cash fine Shs5million each.
